Data Retention Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

This expands on the "How long we keep it" section of our Privacy Policy with the actual mechanics of what happens to each kind of data, rather than a generic retention-schedule table.

While your account is active

We keep your account profile, the events you've hosted or been invited to, your RSVPs, and the content you've posted (comments, chat messages, photos) for as long as your account exists — there's no automatic expiration on an active account's data.

When you delete your account

Deleting your account from Profile → Delete Account triggers, immediately:

Separately, an automated process:

[What happens to an event that has no remaining co-host when its host deletes their account — whether it's archived, deleted, or left host-less — should be confirmed and documented here before this page is treated as complete.]

When you leave an event or are removed

If a host removes you from their guest list, or you're no longer part of an event, your past RSVP/comment history tied to that event may still be visible to the host as part of their guest-list records, consistent with Section 5 of our Terms of Service.

Backups, logs, and legal holds

Like most cloud-hosted services, our infrastructure provider (Google Firebase/Cloud) may retain backups or operational logs for a limited period as part of normal system operation, separate from the primary deletion described above. [The specific backup/log retention window should be confirmed against actual Firebase project configuration rather than assumed, and stated here precisely.] We may also retain data longer than usual if required to comply with a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, or enforce our agreements — see our Law Enforcement Request Policy.

Your choices

See the "Your choices" section of our Privacy Policy for how to delete your account, opt out of contacts import, or unsubscribe from email.
